No. MarketRiders cannot access your money. Our limited power of attorney lets us trade securities for you, ask Schwab to disperse payments as requested by the Client, and receive quarterly management fees from the account as per our contract.
All accounts are insured on multiple levels including theft, fraud, errors, omissions and insolvency. The coverage you receive from Charles Schwab Institutional coverage is extensive and detailed in a public brochure available to all investors.
MarketRiders issues an annual Privacy Statement which fully explains our privacy policies and the steps we take to adhere to government requirements. Our basic tenet is not to release information to anyone, except legal and regulatory authorities, who is not directly named on an account without the account holder's express permission.
A Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) is a designation that means that an investment management company is registered with the SEC and/or the State(s) in which they operate. That registration comes in two parts; ADV Part I, which is basic information and ADV Part II, which is a more detailed explanation of fees and services.
No. RIAs focus on investment management and are regulated by the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Brokerage firms mainly deal with financial product sales and distribution and are regulated by the Securities Act of 1933 and several other laws. MarketRiders, as an RIA, has more fiduciary responsibility to its clients than brokerage firms. It's not only our policy but we're legally required to work in our client's best interest. Another big difference is we base our fee structure on assets under management whereas the brokerage model is based on sales and distribution of financial products.
